Salsa is the most played and famous of all Latin dance genres. Salsa is played and danced across the World, however, its origin is Cuban music mixed with influences from many other Spanish-speaking countries from the Caribbean coast, like Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela.
Back in the 1950’s when many Spanish-speaking musicians migrated to New York the rhythm was born and the new name was given for marketing purposes.
Salsa was then exported all over the Spanish speaking areas of America and its popularity has kept it going strong till this day. The record company responsible for this name and popularity was called FANIA records, and many of the good old classics can still be found under their label even though they no longer exist.
As a Colombian, dancing is a very important part of my life. Since my early years I have enjoyed dancing with my family and friends. Latin dancing is a key element in our culture where it enables us to express our feelings and emotions through music.
In South America and other Hispanic communities dancing has been present in our history dating back to our ancestors.
The Native Indians as well as the slaves that were brought out from Africa to Latin America, leave us with this legacy full of colour, rhythm and passion. I have been teaching Street Latin Dancing in the Gold Coast since establishing the school back in 2001.
During this period of time I’ve participated in multiple displays and demonstrations for private and corporate functions such as The Gold Coast Indy Carnival Parades, ANA Hotel Christmas Party, Latin On the Beach, Mount Tamborine State Primary School, Palazzo Versace Christmas party, and the Gold Coast Multicultural Association along with Life Education Queensland, Circle On Cavill, Skypoint Q1 Qdeck Salsa, Sonora Carruseles Concert, Gold Coast City Council and the Woodford Folk Festival.
And for several years I have been a judge in the Australian Salsa Solo competition. Our Latin Dance Classes run several days a week throughout different Gold Coast.
My fellow instructors and I teach Colombian style Salsa, Cuban style Salsa, Argentine Tango, Cumbia, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, Merengue, Rueda De Casino. We aim to pass on our knowledge of dancing, introduce the basics steps and rhythm and teach you with authentic Latin style and spirit.

We teach Salsa On1, also known as L.A style, and is one of the most popular styles of Salsa. The style is dynamic and a lot of fun, it is challenging but we have a structured syllabus that makes it quite easy to learn.
Providing LA style and dancing, the aim of these classes is to have fun and achieve social competency. Salsa dancing in Adelaide has a great scene and we provide beginners salsa classes all the way through to advanced.
