Our Barista Training courses are SCA accredited. Get started with our Intro to Coffee course, or opt for our Barista Skills modules which range from foundation to professional.
The Barista Skills Foundation course focuses on the key skills required to set a grinder, make espresso and foam, and texture milk for cappuccinos. This course allows one to gain an introductory understanding of the coffee itself and set a foundation from which to build practical skills for milk technique and latte art while implementing health and safety practices and customer service.
Requirements: No experience required. This course is for beginners, cafe owners, and managers or baristas who want to build on existing skills.
Certification: An online written exam consisting of 20 questions is required with a required passing score of 60%. Upon successful completion, a certification is awarded as well as 5 CSP points towards a Diploma in Coffee from the SCA.
Participants: 2 - 4 max
Included: Lunch will be served on training days. Usage of machinery and all relevant ingredients.
Price: R3499 (exam and certification cost)
*A fee increase of R500 will be implemented from 01 March due to pricing structure adjustments for certification.
Our Story
Winston Thomas started working in coffee in 2014. During his engineering studies, he grew a curious interest in coffee. This interest quickly developed into a passion that he pursued after graduating.
After working for some of the top roasteries in South Africa, touring the country working as a guest barista in numerous cafes, and having participated in three World Barista Championships as the South African Barista Champion Winston decided to start a business of his own.
