Course Details

Our course is designed for anyone who enjoys delicious food with a bit of a kick. Over the years Spanish foods have had the most influence on Mexican cuisine. 

Products such as chilli peppers, limes, avocados, tortillas, tacos and coriander all play a very important role in the Mexican kitchen.

During the course, you will learn how to cook a mixture of different traditional dishes varying from Burritos, Tacos, Empanadas to Churros and desserts using tropical fruits. You will also learn knife skills and new preparation techniques as well as new flavour combinations that will make you a better cook.

 

Minimum entry requirements

  • This is a fun leisure class for amateur cooks to learn different cookery styles and skills - there are no minimum entry requirements.  

 

What you study

  • You will study a number of different dishes and learn a number of cooking processes and techniques. At the end of the course, you will have a good general knowledge about Mexican cuisine and understand the basic principles of this style of cooking.

 

After the course

  • Move onto one of our many other evening leisure classes.

 

How the course is taught

  • The course will be taught using short demos, assembling the dish step by step until the full dish is completed.

  • The first night will be a practical demonstration by the lecturer and recipes will be issued.

  • You will be required to buy ingredients to bring in with you every week.

  • There will be lecturer led demonstrations every week and also the chance to ask any questions and taste the food.

Materials

  • All equipment is provided. You will need containers to take your food home in.

 

Dress code

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear for the kitchen.

  • Apron to protect your clothing.

  • Tea towel for drying dishes.
