Children practice moving as a group, cooperating, and following directions. Excellent transition class to Pre-K Dance, in which students work independently.
The ever-growing popularity of Cynthia King Dance Studio (CKDS) is a testament to Artistic Director Cynthia King’s commitment to progressive dance education. CKDS has been a vital part of Brooklyn’s rich dance culture for nearly two decades, consistently presenting relevant and thought-provoking work. Now embarking upon its twentieth year, the studio continues to train dancers of all ages and abilities in its dance center in Flatbush.
Our goal is to provide our students with the tools necessary to reach their full potential, as technicians, artists, and members of an ensemble. We believe that dancers excel in a structured environment, in which hard work and dedication are valued, and success is earned. Whether learning to be on time for class, or how to execute a grand jeté, our students are taught invaluable lessons that will help them throughout their lives.
A one hour class that focuses on the fundamentals of ballet and tap. Dancers perform two routines, one in each genre, in our annual recital. Must be at least 3 years old, and potty trained.Â
An introductory combination class of ballet, tap, and mat work that promotes technique in each discipline in a fun and supportive environment.
The Tiny Dancer and Me class is designed for 2 year-olds (as of Sept. 1, 2022) and an accompanying adult. This dance class introduces the young student to locomotive movement and music.
Children are introduced to a classroom structure, utilizing dance games to teach ballet and tap vocabulary. The highlight is on self-discovered movement in a fun environment.
The Teddy Bear Program merges early understanding or rhythm, posture and body coordination skills. Ballroom dancing helps preparing your child for different types of classes in kindergarten and support those toddlers who are already in pre-school.
