Goju Ryu karate is one of the three original styles of Okinawan karate founded by Chōjun Miyagi and the Baobab Dojos are affiliated to the Okinawan Kan Goju Ryu South Africa.
Shihan Willem Potgieter is a 6th Dan and has been involved in karate as both karateka and instructor for the last 34 years, since he was 7. He has competed locally.
Nationally and also at international level. He has travelled to Germany, India, New Zealand, Japan, Romania and Malaysia to represent his country as both karateka and coach.
