Supporting community involvement
We enable the people we support to participate fully and actively in their community.
We provide a range of services which helps both young and old people reduce loneliness, social isolation and stress.
By encouraging people to connect with their communities, we can help improve their quality of life - and even delay or avoid the need for more intensive support.
Ways we can help
We can help you:
develop experience and skills which can help you succeed in education or employment
increase confidence and self-esteem
make new friends and extend your networks
share your experience, knowledge and skills for the benefit of others
take part in something you enjoy
Homelessness support
We run a number of services in Edinburgh and Fife for people who currently are, or are at risk of becoming homeless.
By homeless, we mean not having a home. People don't have to be living on the streets to be homeless - even if they have a roof over their head, they can still be without a home. This may be because they don't have any rights to stay where they live or because their home is unsuitable for them.
We recognise the reasons people lose or risk losing their home are wide ranging. From relationships breaking down, to losing a job, to having significant health problems, to key life transitions like leaving care. There are many factors that can make keeping a home difficult.
What we know is that it is often people who are most vulnerable with complex needs who become homeless. This is why we ensure the support we offer people addresses the range of needs that people will have.
Ways we can help
We have vast experience working with people who have been affected by homelessness.
We can help you:
build confidence and self-esteem
cope with anxiety and depression
develop positive relationships, at a personal level and in the community
find suitable accommodation to move on to
get into education, training or work
manage day-to-day tasks, including budgeting, cleaning, cooking, paying bills and shopping
plan how to use the skills you have developed when you move on from the service
This workshop is for those seeking to understand an individual’s response to conflict, consider useful ways to resolve and repair relationships, as well as the potential benefits of positively working through conflict.
This workshop is relevant to everyone who would like to better understand and reduce levels of personal and work-related stress, or to gain understanding and techniques that they could share with the individuals they work with.
