The School of Social and Political Science is one of the largest schools in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.
The social and political sciences have been taught at the University for many years. These departments are now under one roof as the School of Social and Political Science.
Social scientists across all our disciplines work in a single school, which provides opportunities for interdisciplinary research and study. Our academics are addressing local, national and global challenges, and working across disciplines enables collaboration and innovation to find creative solutions.
Our School is mainly housed within the Chrystal Macmillan building on George Square, although we span several other sites across the city.
Good writing relies on a basic understanding of grammar and how words fit together. We’ll examine some basic guidelines and rules of constructing well-written sentences and paragraphs, using good (and bad) examples of academic writing.
Writing an effective CV, cover letter or application is important for success during the recruitment process.
This workshop will cover various situations that researchers are faced with regularly with regard to verbal interaction. We will cover oral presentations, how to get the most from your poster session at a conference, how to pitch your research and how to network effectively.
It is important to make sure you are prioritising your well-being as much as your studies. Whether you are a meditation expert or new to the practice of mindfulness, all are invited to this hour-long session focused on training our breath and creating a positive mindset through a guided meditation.
