Course Details

Join us for a relaxed and sociable evening filled with authentic Japanese cuisine taught by specialist chef, food writer and cookery teacher Yuki Gomi.

Having grown up in the picturesque mountains neighbouring Mount Fuji, Yuki’s affinity for food stemmed from her mother’s lovingly made dishes using home-grown, organic produce, which inspired her to pursue a professional career within kitchens across Chicago, Japan and then London.

Throughout her insightful class, Yuki will guide you through an array of stunning, yet easy-to-create, Japanese dishes which are exciting, naturally nourishing and delicious. Making the most of simple and accessible ingredients grown locally in the UK, Yuki will help to demystify regional and traditional Japanese cooking techniques, and uncover how to bring the wonderful flavours of Japan to your own dining table.

After your cooking session, you'll be able to sit down and enjoy the enticing meal you've created with your fellow classmates, over a celebratory glass of sake.

Typical recipes may include:

  • Tai meshi - seabream rice
  • Salmon and oriental mushroom with teriyaki sauce
  • Tofu and wakame seaweed miso soup

Please note, recipes and ingredients may change.

Class structure:

Your day will comprise of a mixture of hands-on cookery and demonstrations performed by the chef who is running the session. The exact format will vary from class to class depending on the style of cuisine and, in the case of visiting chefs, their individual teaching style.

Unless otherwise stated, you will be eating the food that you have cooked during your class for dinner, usually with wine or elderflower cordial around a communal table. If your class does not involve cooking lunch you will enjoy delicious sharing platters prepared by the school.
