Our Contemporary classes teach a variety of styles (e.g., Horton, Graham, Limon). Contemporary Dance forms allow students to explore their individual dance style outside of the structure of traditional ballet and jazz classes. Ballet class twice a week is required to take this class.
TADA – The Atlanta Dance Academy is Atlanta’s newest dance studio offering high quality dance education for children and adults of all skill levels.
Kara, an Atlanta native, founded TADA in October of 2016, and she has more than 30 years of dance training and education experience. Her training and performance experiences include: Harkness House in New York City, The Joffrey Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, The Georgia Ballet, and Southern Ballet.
Ms. Jacobson is also a graduate of the nationally recognized Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA). Kara is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3.
Currently, Kara is a volunteer coach for the USA Special Olympics gymnastics team. In addition to launching TADA Kara is a faculty member at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
Contemporary Floor Work begins and ends on the floor. This class starts with a warm-up on the ground consisting of basic techniques like head-tail connection and spinal initiation. Class will develop into a series of rolling floor combinations to warm up the spine and hip flexors.
This class is for students who have some previous experience or training in contemporary dance, or with other related dance styles such as ballet, modern and jazz. The class includes warm up exercises, across the floor combinations, and choreographic variations
Modern and contemporary dance is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings. Modern and contemporary dance was created as a rebellion against classical ballet, emphasizing creativity in choreography and performance.
This class is for dancers that have had at least two -three years of dance training.
This class introduces contemporary style dancing to the dancer by introducing various traditional disciplines of dance foundations with current contemporary styles
