Take your taste buds on a trip to Greece with me at The Veggie Tree. Together we will make a delicious Greek meal starting with crisp tomato domatokeftedes followed by Moussaka with a traditional Greek style salad and to finish we will make Bougatsa a delicious custard filled filo pastry dessert that is utterly scrumptious
The Veggie Tree is made up of cook schools, recipe sharing, blogging and seasonal cookbooks. The cook schools are held twice a month in our century old Kauri villa in Kaeo. I cater to all different cookery levels, ages and tastes - vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free - there is something for everyone.
Need some new ideas & inspiration for plant-based meals or how to make your vegetables more exciting? You are in the right place! The Veggie Tree Cook Schools are hands on, informative classes that cover a wide range of skills and cuisines.
The cook schools have been running here in Kaeo for three years and I have had 600+ people attend. I am a trained chef and have been a vegetarian for 28 years, I draw on many years of eating, cooking and researching a plant-based diet to bring you these classes.
Kids Classes are from Ages 5-12, the other classes are suitable for ages 12 and up. Tap on Contact Us on the menu bar to contact directly if you are interested in a private cooking class, for group bookings or travelling food tourist packages.
In this class you will learn to make our special caramel choux. A crisp and airy choux pastry filled with a speculaas cremeux, whipped caramel, speculaas spread and topped with speculaas biscuit crumbs.Â
We will cook and taste around 10 dishes then sit down and have a shared lunch, and finish off with something sweet from her brand new cookbook SAFFRON SWIRLS & CARDAMOM DUST.Â
This course covers an introduction to various spices used in Indian Cooking as well as basic recipes.Â
In this class you’ll learn to make one of the original Sugar Flour pastries, the Yayoi Kusama. This pastry was created for the first Mother’s Day at Sugar Flour, inspired by the artist Yayoi Kusama, and her incredible work.Â
Breaking a few rules (!!), we’ll explore taking classic Indian flavours and using them in a modern context, to give a fresher, lighter, approach. The focus is on finding bold, lively tastes – as always.
