The mission of Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul, an independent chapter of a worldwide organization, is to serve our community by promoting the use and appreciation of French language and cultures through language classes, cultural programs, social events and information resources.
Our vision is to build a community of people passionate about francophone culture in all its global diversity, and want to become–through high-quality native language instruction along with authentic and exciting cultural activities and social events–the indispensable destination for all things French!
History:
Founded in Paris in 1883, the Alliance Française promotes French language and culture. Worldwide there are over 1,135 chapters in 138 countries, with 130 chapters in the United States.
The Alliance Française is the largest cultural network in the world. Each Alliance Française is governed locally and is operated as an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-discriminatory organization.
I'm often asked what's my favorite class, it's this one and the Indian class. Â The food and spices are heavenly. In this class, we will use a classic Tagine, as well as traditional pots and pans that will help us come close to the real thing.Â
Moroccan Dishes cooking class is offered by Thrive Chef Works. Chef Nick’s cooking classes and food talks have been held in school classrooms, farmer’s markets, businesses, food co-ops, Kitchen Window and in private homes.
Bust out the tagines and spices, this class is sure to get your taste buds dancing!
Rock the Shiso Kitchen Casbah with this intensely flavorful North African style menu including Spiced Chicken Tagine w/ Olives and Dates, Charred Broccoli with Harissa Vinaigrette, Moroccan Cous Cous Salad with Lemon, Shallots and Mint, and Glazed Orange Almond Cake.
Spices can be scary! We de-mystify them and teach you all you need to know to feel as though you’re in Casablanca. We’ll make Chicken Tagine with Apricots, Couscous with Pistachios and Rose, Grilled Pepper Salad, Carrot Salad, and Crêpes for dessert.
