After much anticipation, and with continued support from our community, we now have a beautiful teaching kitchen for our cooking classes! We welcome you to join in our new cooking classes with local and native French-speaking chefs.
The mission of Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul, an independent chapter of a worldwide organization, is to serve our community by promoting the use and appreciation of French language and cultures through language classes, cultural programs, social events and information resources.
Our vision is to build a community of people passionate about francophone culture in all its global diversity, and want to become–through high-quality native language instruction along with authentic and exciting cultural activities and social events–the indispensable destination for all things French!
History:
Founded in Paris in 1883, the Alliance Française promotes French language and culture. Worldwide there are over 1,135 chapters in 138 countries, with 130 chapters in the United States.
The Alliance Française is the largest cultural network in the world. Each Alliance Française is governed locally and is operated as an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-discriminatory organization.
We’ll start with a roasted eggplant and tomato salad and then put together a savory and sweet chicken tagine filled with spices directly from their markets. Top it off with a fruit, nut and honey salad and some mint tea. It’s an evening you’re sure to remember.
Morocco Cooking class is offered by Hands On Gourmet. We change our menus twice a year to reflect the season, as well as current food trends. We put a lot of thought into offering guests a wide variety of options.
In this class, you’ll learn to make a Chicken tagine – a traditional Moroccan dish of chicken braised with spices and preserved lemons, a company-worthy dish. We’ll round up the meal with a decadent African date ice cream.
Take a journey with Chef to the magical kingdom of Morocco, known for its exotic culture and cuisine. Moroccan cuisine is rich, both in terms of history and the richness of flavors, aromas, colors and breadth of exotic ingredients.
Join Hipcooks owner Monika Reti (daughter of MIT Alum Aldo Reti) and Let’s go to Morocco for a virtual dinner party! In this lively livestream class, we’ll make a beautiful Moroccan Tagine for dinner and Poached Apricots in Syrup for dessert.
