This course focuses on creating entrepreneurs by equipping students with both baking and business skills.
Students are mentored and guided throughout the course where they are given individual attention. Starter packs of the goods baked under supervision in class are handed out to encourage students to master their baking techniques at home.
These products are then sold in their communities. Students are provided with skills to calculate their profits of their baked goods.
Entrepreneurial skills are developed in Professional Baking enabling students to exceed their expectations and begin their own sustainable businesses within their communities.
Students who don't wish to start their own businesses are well equipped to manage a position in a bakery.
GetOn established in 2006, with the vision to grow and sustain efficient and effective skills and entrepreneurial development programmes that empower youth, enhancing dignity and encouraging independence.
GetOn provides training to youth between the ages of 18-35 of whom 99% being black South Africans. We play a prominent role in the retail sector, as we provide high calibre staff that have exceeded in our training programmes into the economic workforce of South Africa.
This Programme is exclusively for current full-time students. HTA in conjunction with City & Guilds developed the 6-month Patisserie Programme to be presented in conjunction with the SCA Programme in Professional Cookery and Culinary Art.

Our on-site deli exposes students to the practical side of a commercial venture, incorporating menu planning, scaled production and costing, budgets and controls.
Baking classes are hands on and practical with support of theory notes and recipes. Learn to the techniques, skills and tricks when baking cakes, decorating them and designing them based on different themes.
