Course Details

The initial session for neuro diverse learners involves cooking one recipe each day with occasional secondary items. They will be focused on sensory and language goals while cooking.

We work on reading through each recipe completely, reviewing weekly calendars and discuss trying new foods.  Beautiful Give Garden food boxes are delivered to be sure all ingredients are available to the participants.

Session B

The second session is a continuation of Session A. Recipes become more complicated; we will work on skills that require more time and patience as we continue growth toward independence. Reading calendars becomes less detailed, kitchen skills will grow and we hope continuing to immerse the participants in smells and sounds and taste of the kitchen.

Session C

The final session will involve transitions. Week 1 will look similar to the other sessions, but the recipes will become more complicated.  Week 2 the participants will now use videos, not live zoom classes.  They will use 2 Give Garden boxes and 1 Sensory Cooking bag so they will still have all the items needed for the classes.

Week 3 they will need to choose three Sensory Cooking videos, prepare a grocery list, purchase groceries, either on line or in person.  Next, they will prepare the three recipes using videos and other information provided on line.

To finish this session, they will need to send Katie pictures of grocery lists for all three items and pictures of the food once they have completed the recipe. When they have turned in the pictures, they will receive a certificate of completion.
