Course Details

Aerial silks (sometimes called aerial fabric or aerial tissu) is a vertical aerial apparatus and circus discipline that focuses on strength, grace, and creativity. It was first formally invented by Cirque-du-Soleil in 1995 and has exploded in popularity in recent years.

In aerial silks classes students will learn techniques for climbing, wrapping, and eventually dropping with a focus on safety and personal growth. Aerial silks is exciting, fun, and challenging. It is a great way to build confidence and courage and is appropriate for all genders and body types.

No prior strength training or movement background is necessary, as we believe in going “low and slow”, and ensuring that progressions are accessible so that anyone can acquire the skills that will enable them to fly!

  • Lynne Sargent is an aerial silks “theorist” with a strong dance background. She holds her Intermediate RAD Certificate in Ballet, as well as extensive further training in Vaganova Ballet, and brings a strong technical discipline and creative dance background to the realm of aerial arts. Her circus journey began in 2014 after a foot injury took her away from dance. Since then, she has completed multiple aerial instructor certificates with NECCA (The New England Center for Circus Arts), trained with circus experts around the globe, and performed with the Hamilton Aerial Group, Steel the Sky, and as an independent performer. She has previously taught at studios like Steel the Sky, Brass Butterflies, and Cirquesmith. She is passionate about helping every student find their own personal strength and expression style, and wants to facilitate leaving the cares of the ground behind.
