Historically, street food was eaten by workers as a quick and easy “grab it and go” meal to eat throughout the day, but it soon spread to restaurants and homes all over the globe, and is seen by many as the real “fast food”.
Street food has become so popular that it’s now cooked and eaten as household snacks. Breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner, there’s no set time for enjoying street food sold by the peddlers and street hawkers amongst the road-side cafés – it’s a way of life for the people of Asia. And there’s much more to it than onion bhajis or pakoras!
Cooking street food is a great skill to learn, and the dishes we will teach you, work well for anything from parties and entertaining, to a healthy and delicious lunch to box up and take to work.
You’ll learn to create a range of dishes such as; samosas, prawn and mushroom dim sum, and nem nuong aka pork and garlic meatballs, with nuoc cham dipping sauce, paneer shashlick, and Thai caramelised chicken.
