Course Details

Get qualified in hospitality! This qualification is available via direct entry, and also as a traineeship.

This course is available to you if you are a new entrant to industry, have an interest in obtaining a pathway into a hospitality career, or have existing experience within the broader hospitality industry.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in hospitality organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and espresso bars.

You will develop a broad and diverse range of skills while learning from industry-current teachers who are passionate about this ever-evolving and exciting industry.

For Trainees - as a trainee this qualification provides you with the opportunity to study as you work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and espresso bars.

 

Delivery Methods

  • Blended – Teaching and assessment will be conducted on-campus and online.
  • Traineeship – Teaching and assessment will be required to be conducted as part of a traineeship

Requirements

It is expected that you will meet industry and health requirements with your apparel and equipment. You will be required to purchase industry standard equipment and a uniform, to be worn only on restaurant days or service periods, which consists of - Black long-sleeved collared shirt – buttoned up front. Long black pants. Black enclosed lace-up shoes.

Restaurant service periods and/or work placement is a requirement of this course to achieve the qualifications.

You will be required to stand for long periods of time and will be required to handle heavy items eg three plates with food, undertake a broad range of duties eg wash dishes and clean.

You will be required to complete the unit SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety prior to commencing food and beverage service. This unit is delivered as part of the training for the qualification.

It is recommended that you have your own laptop or have access to a computer and internet for at-home and online learning studies. Access to computer devices is available on campus, where required.
