Keep the kids busy and make the holidays just a little more delicious.
So there’s plenty of time to try new skills – with lots of fun and lots of yummy things to eat! We’ll focus on essential cooking skills like dough making, and trying our hand at soft pretzels, ciabatta, or pizza. We’ll create tasty pasta dishes, and rustle up delicious sweet treats like cookies and brownies.
I’m fully PVG registered with up-to-date first aid training. All classes are carefully planned to meet the needs of our younger learners.
Children’s holiday clubs
One-day clubs for 9 – 12 years run from 10 am – 3 pm in school holidays.
Held at St George’s Lower School, Coltbridge Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 6BG.
Master baking & cooking skills in a fun, lively, relaxed environment.
Lunch, snacks and ingredients provided. Please bring a water bottle and a tub to take your cooking home.
All classes led by me, a highly qualified chef with full PVG and food safety and first aid certification.

I’m Daniela Forbes, a chef, stylist and food educator with Italian roots. I love helping people gain the skills and confidence they need to cook delicious food from scratch, in a fun, relaxed environment.
I studied at the Edinburgh School of Food and Wine, Leith’s Cookery School and the Bertinet Kitchen, as well as undertaking chocolate training with Chocolate Master Ruth Hinks of Cocoa Black. I’m fully PVG registered and hold all relevant food safety certificates. I’ve worked as head cook in various bistros and cafés, as well as running my own food education business working with clients like The Good Food Show, The Cake and Bake Show and Quality Meat Scotland, which involved creating and running workshops in secondary schools across Scotland.
Like so many people, lockdown meant I started to explore different ways of working. I hosted sourdough and pizza workshops from my home kitchen in Cramond, as well as testing my workshop ideas on my two young children (turns out cooking is a great way of homeschooling). This inspired me to launch The Cook Academy. I’m delighted to be working from St George’s School in Murrayfield – it’s right in the centre of beautiful Edinburgh, with fantastic facilities which will help me share my fun, informal and practical classes with even more people.
Since the launch of My Little Chef at Home, children as young as 5 years old are learning invaluable life skills around numeracy, literacy and dexterity while they read recipes, measure ingredients, bake and prepare healthy & nutritious meals.
The classes provide a lovely bonding sessions for parent and children as they cook together.
