Often conflict issues in the workplace escalate as they are not tackled as they occur. Managers may be “too busy” to regularly check in on how employees are performing. Others don’t like confrontation and ‘hope’ issues will blow over if they ignore them. This is rarely the case.

If you have not had training in supervisory management skills or lack confidence you may be reluctant to deal with issues. The use of good communication skills, planning, feedback and assertiveness can all support you in dealing with workplace conflict. This 1-day course concentrates on building skills in recognising and dealing with workplace conflict.

This course is suitable for line managers, supervisors, team leaders and those identified for future managerial roles.

  • Identify the different types and causes of conflict

  • Know the negative impact conflict (and unresolved conflict) can have on a workplace

  • Understand what “confrontation” is, and what your role in managing conflict in the workplace is, to ensure you maximise individual and team performance

  • Identify your preferred style/s in managing conflict and influencing others, and strategies that they need to use to successfully resolve conflict situations

  • Practice using your skills in resolving conflict and confrontation

  • Planning to apply and enhance your communication skills to address existing conflicts
