Students may receive a small stipend, transportation assistance and other case management support to help them be successful in training. Students are not paid wages or other compensation for their training hours at Groundwork Kitchen.
Groundwork Kitchen is a social enterprise and expansion of Paul’s Place, a nonprofit organization, in Southwest Baltimore. Nestled in the neighborhood of Pigtown, Groundwork Kitchen is a full-service restaurant offering a free culinary training program for individuals interested in a career in hospitality.
The training program will prepare individuals to be qualified employees, advance their career, and become competitive while receiving real-time experience working in the industry. It was created to transform lives, disrupt poverty and offer life skills and career training to nourish the community through food.
Attendees will learn how to make tasty and fabulous small bites and big drinks for a cocktail party. Class will learn to easily make three dishes and one specialty cocktail along with time-saving tips, bar-tending, and party secrets.
This course covers the various responsibilities of the garde-manger and charcuterie kitchen areas and the types of items they produce, the fundamental techniques to use in this production area.
