Course Details

Feed yourself well with fermented foods (Gut Health). Why not join us on our fun interactive class learning and understanding about gut bacteria and how it has a massive impact on our health and wellbeing.

Inside our bodies, there is a whole universe of forty trillion bacteria busy at work, transforming the food we eat, which is now understood to have a huge impact on our health in several ways. It’s great to know we can nurture and manipulate this through the food we eat. Fermented foods play a crucial role in feeding our gut microbiota.

At this gut health class, Emily will help you understand more about what the gut microbiota is and what our amazing bacteria can do. She will then go on to show you how to prepare some fermented foods, easily from scratch, giving you the know how to take away, along with your filled up jars. Everyone is welcome!

 

We will make:

  • Water kefir (v) 
  • Simple sauerkraut (clip jar & pickling stone provided) (v) 
  • Spicy pickled radishes or cucumbers (v) 
  • Fermented Tomatoes (demonstration only (v)

The starting point is the science of gut health and the association it has with overall wellbeing. We go on to create delicious fermented food from the recommendations of science. It’s suitable for beginners and more experienced cooks alike. If you are interested in gut health you may like to start with the first class Feed yourself well. However, they are designed to stand alone as well as complement one another.
