A fun hands-on class where you'll learn to make chocolates, in a real chocolate factory. This class is only for private groups!
The children will experience the magic of creating personalized chocolates with their own hands. This is an ideal party activity as the kids will not only end up with chocolate on their faces but also their own chocolates to take home – if they last that long!
The experience begins with a brief history of chocolate, then a chocolate tasting to taste the difference between compound and couverture chocolate. Then onto the best part - diving into the actual chocolate making! The kids will make their own moulded chocolate, with each child choosing from an array of fun moulds.
A special box is given to each chocolate maker so they can package their creations to take home. They'll be guided by our chocolatier, though they'll also have space to indulge their creativity and imagination.
While we wait for the chocolate to set, the kids will be shown how to dip and decorate marshmallows and Turkish Delights. They'll demonstrate their artistic talents with piping bags.
We recommend at least one or two adults to come along to share the joy (of herding the kids, and of the workshop itself ). Older kids (eg high school age) will enjoy this class too. The class content and teaching style will be adjusted to suit the age of the participants.
And if you'd like to share a birthday cake during the class, we can make time and space for that too. This class can also be held at a location of your choice (extra fee will apply).
Kimberley Chocolates was established in 1994 by Joseph Atallah BSc (Food Science) with the aim of producing good quality chocolate and making it accessible to the general public. At that time in Sydney, very little good quality chocolate was being made and Joseph’s idea of combining couverture chocolate with ingredients such as lemon myrtle, quandong and chilli proved very successful.
Selling at markets and shows as well as from the Leichhardt factory, Kimberley Chocolates’ range of chocolate truffles quickly became sought after and Joseph rapidly gained a reputation as an innovative chocolatier with a wealth of knowledge that he was willing to share.
With appearances on TV and in other media outlets, customers became keen to not only taste his product, but to learn more about chocolate. Firstly, Joseph established Chocolate Appreciation Classes and the success of these informative sessions lead to the demand for hands-on Chocolate Workshops.
Participants of the workshops love learning the secrets of chocolate truffle making and enjoy being able to take their handmade creations home with them along with the know-how of how to replicate them in the comfort of their own kitchen.
Since 2004, Joseph has run hundreds of chocolate-making workshops for thousands of budding chocolatiers, including children’s parties, schools, adults, couples, friends, hen’s parties, corporate teams, and not-for-profit groups.
In 2017, wanting to add more unique experiences, science and chemistry-obsessive Joseph established Kimberley Perfume and perfume and fragrance-making workshops commenced.
During the school holidays we offer a range of fun and friendly hands-on workshops for children aged 6+, all designed as an introduction to the wonderful world of cake decorating.
If your child loves to eat and have fun, you want them enrolled in our kid cooking classes.
Each school holidays we choose a different theme to create a day of excitement and hilarity around our favourite characters from the big screen. Scoffed becomes a theatre as the kids role play being chefs and dress up as their  favourite characters.
Have you ever wondered how yeast makes bread rise, why egg whites change their character when whisked, or why puff pastry 'puffs'? This fun-filled day will uncover the fascinating science of baking where all of these questions and more will be answered.
These classes are run by Jade, Jade has over a decade of experience in child care centres as well as caring for smaller groups of children in their homes as a nanny.
