Do you get excited about a trip to the farmer's market, but dread chopping all those veggies and herbs? If the onions make you break into tears and you can't remember the last time you sharpened your knife, come to this hands-on class and learn to slice, dice, and mince in a casual and supportive environment.
We'll go over which knives are used for which cuts, how to buy a good knife in any price range, as well as sharpening and caring for your knives. You are welcome to bring an 8" chef's knife, but that's optional. We have knives for everyone.
We don't recommend buying anything before class since you'll have a chance to try out different knives to help you decide which one works for you. We'll make a lunch out of our chopping practice and serve it in the end of class. This class is vegetarian.
In 2005, Helen decided to open her own kitchen to anyone who wants to learn about food. That's how Helen's Kitchen was born. Since then, Helen has taught 1,000+ students helping many home cooks put delicious, nutritionally-dense meals on their tables.
Helen's cooking philosophy centers on finding creative ways to prepare local ingredients. She teaches cooking classes in her house in Natick with a strong focus on culinary techniques and food science. Her classes are small to give all students a chance for hands-on practice.
Knife Skills lessons are offered by Edible Artistic Abilities In You. You’ll learn a new skill, hopefully, have a great time and leave at the end of the day with something you’ve created on your own. If you’re not having fun cooking, then I am not doing our jobs right!
You will learn a variety of cutting techniques, have lots of time to practice, and depart with the confidence to chop, dice and slice your way to more enjoyable meal preparation at home.
How many times have you tried to cut an onion and found yourself struggling against the ineffective feeble edge of a dull knife? The truth is, no matter how much you spend on a knife, it is worthless in the kitchen unless it has a well-honed blade.

Plate dinner like a pro? This is the class for you. Our own chef's will create a menu for you to cook...
Everything you ever need to know about choosing, storing, sharpening, holding, and using the most important tool in the kitchen. We will have 8-inch chef's knives for you to practice on, but you are also welcome to bring your own knife.Â
