The goal of the Food for Life: Diabetes Initiative program is to empower people who have diabetes and those concerned about developing diabetes, along with their friends and family members with new information and skills.
This is a combined program, offering all of the nutrition education from 2 PCRM Food for Life classes - Intro to How Foods Fight Diabetes and Designing a Diet for Maximum Weight Control, along with 5 delicious recipes to sample in 3 hours.

My life changed early in 2011 after routine blood work showed a sudden, unhealthy trend.
Rather than wait for prescribed medication to make the symptoms go away, I decided to take control of my health and focus on the root cause. The Standard American Diet, which contributes to 70% of the deaths in the US, was not going to get the best of me. I left my doctor’s office, and started a vegan diet the next day. In a few short weeks, my blood work was normal again.
Come join us as we show how exciting a vegetarian menu can be! In this class, we will prepare a Carrot & Beet Osso Bucco with exotic mushrooms and pearled red onions. This will be served on a bed of polenta with a mixed greens salad and citrus olive oil cake for dessert
