Let us introduce ourselves: we are Neale and Nicole Byrnes, founders and directors of Byrnes Dance Image.
We joined forces in 1994 and decided to open up a studio where we could call home all the while building up our international dancing profile. We’ve been fortunate to train amongst the best in the industry but also to have taught many champions in Australia and throughout the world.
Through dance, many of our life long friendships have formed and endured and we know Byrnes Dance Image is a place “where dreamers that dance, dance their dreams”.
Now we put our efforts into teaching, adjudicating and running our studio from various venues, along with raising our three children who also participate in classes and private lessons at Byrnes Dance Image. And as our family has expanded, so has our studio. In order to connect with the local community and encourage a love of dance, we teach for the Seven Hills – Toongabbie RSL Ballroom Dancing Youth Club, Dooley’s Dancesport and run classes and private lesson from various venues in Western Sydney.
We enjoy working with all levels of dancers, not just top level competitors, but also beginners, high school students and social dancers of all levels. Dancing has given us both so much in life that we enjoy sharing our love of dance with those who have a desire to learn.
We are proud to say that all of the teachers in the studio are of a very high calibre and have become an integral part of the Dance Image family whom we value and trust.
We continue to advance our skills and knowledge by attending congresses and workshops whenever possible. Our motto is: Dance, aspire, engage and excel!
Our Achievements
We feel privileged to have been invited to perform and compete all over the world: South Africa, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Canada, United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
We particularly enjoyed being selected to represent Australia twice at the World Professional Latin Championships in ’98 + ’99 as well as being one of the featured couples on stage at the Sydney 2000 Olympics Closing Ceremony.
Other highlights in our competitive career were:
In addition to running the studio and teaching, Neale is currently the Chairman of Dance Move Engage, a Not For Profit organisation that focuses on running events that are accessible and family friendly whilst encouraging and harnessing a love of Dance.
Neale was previously the CEO for the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing (FATD) and Nicole is Treasurer of Dance Move Engage, and was on the Board of Directors of Dancesport New South Wales as well as FATD Administrator for a number of years.
