Do you love eating sushi but want to know how to make it yourself? Join Chef William Pitchford for this flavor packed Sushi 101 class. Participants will learn about the history and art of sushi making, then partake in crafting their own sushi: California roll, shrimp tempura, and spicy tuna hand roll. The class will conclude with a glass of wine or Japanese beer.

History
The San Antonio Botanical Garden was first imagined nearly eight decades ago by civic influencers Mrs. R. R. Witt and Mrs. Joseph Murphy. Forty years of planning and partnerships finally blossomed on May 3, 1980, with the official opening of the Botanical Garden.
Since that day, the formal gardens and collections of native Texas plants have evolved to make the Botanical Garden one of the most noteworthy botanical centers in the state, educating and inspiring guests from around the world.
During this fun, hands-on experience, you'll learn all the skills needed to make sushi rolls at home, including how to prepare sushi rice, select sushi-grade fish at your local market and how to add additional tasty ingredients that enhance your roll.
Guests will learn about the history of sushi, the different types of sushi, and how to prepare this iconic dish. Our chef instructor will discuss how to make rolls, slice fish, and how to make nigiri and sashimi before heading into the kitchen to help you apply your learning!
Sushi making class is offered by La Cuisine. La Cuisine offers recreational, private group classes for curious cooks and social guests alike. We have hosted numerous corporate team building classes, as well as group classes for bridal showers, birthdays, and date nights.
