Course Details

Dance Ihayami teaches Ashtanga inspired Yoga, a style that emphasises the linking of movement and breath (vinyasa), breathing with sound (ujjayi), bandhas (energy locks), and drishti (gazing point).

Regular practice of Ashtanga Yoga improves circulation and purifies, strengthens and balances the body and mind. This gives a light, strong body and a steady, peaceful mind.

Yoga classes will typically include:
  • 1. Pranayama: these are breathing exercises learnt through specific breathing techniques. Your energy is released for physical and mental rejuvenation.
  • 2. Surya Namaskar: sun salutations will increase your circulation and flexibility.
  • 3. Asanas: yoga postures with simple variations. Asanas not only produce physical benefits, but are also mental exercise in concentration, promoting optimum health.
  • 4. Deep Relaxation/Savasana: Proper relaxation is a vital part in recharging the body, keeping the body and mind healthy.

 

No footwear is required in yoga and make sure you’re wearing loose and comfortable clothing so that you can move easily. Dance Ihayami will also provide yoga mats for students but you are of course welcome to bring your own!
