The City College Young Chefs' Academy is designed to give students, from years 10 and 11, the first taste of working in a professional kitchen and within the hospitality and catering industry.
The aim of the course is to excite, develop and nurture young talent over a period of 6 weeks.

Students will develop confidence and social skills, be empowered to cook and eat healthily and be provided with impartial career advice.
During the course, we will cover the following:
City College Southampton is a general further education college in Hampshire, providing career led courses, apprenticeships and education for young people and adults.
Located in the centre of Southampton the campus has invested in new facilities and equipment, allowing students to learn and work in real life working environments using industry standard equipment. Students can use this experience to start, build and develop their careers beyond education.
We start the day with a bit of a challenge - rough puff pastry. This will be used to make cheese straws, for a snack . We will then ' use puff pastry for our Diggle pasties, to be taken home and shared (some of these can be eaten for lunch).
What could be better than a family film night? We’ve got all the ingredients for the perfect movie night as your budding chefs learn how to make pizzas and a sweet treat for a night in on the sofa.
Learn how to decorate cupcakes and get those creative juices flowing. This class is ideal for children between the ages of 11-15. The perfect way to spend a couple of hours decorating pre-baked cupcakes to enjoy later.
Children's Cookery Class course is offered by Blackfriars Restaurant School.
