This course offers a course fee subsidy through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) for NZ citizen and permanent migrant adults, who have finished secondary school and are aged 16+. The unsubsidised course fee is $92.
We need to collect extra information such as age, ethnicity, educational achievement and gender for statistical purposes. You must also provide evidence of NZ citizenship or residency if requested. A condition of accepting this course fee subsidy is that you commit to attend the full course.
This is blended-learning course using a combination of online video tutorials (within the class) and hands-on practice using a Breville Barista Express espresso machine. There is a small amount of course work to complete before the course. Your tutor will email a link to you in the week before the course.

Knowing how to make good coffee is a foot-in-the-door to most holiday jobs now. This course covers the origins of coffee and how it is processed, along with the types of coffee and what affects their flavour when made in cafes.
Cafes, bars, restaurants, and hotels are always keen to employ skilled baristas that can provide excellent coffee beverages and service for their customers.Â
Small class sizes with a maximum of 12 students per intake allowing students to have lots of hands-on experience. Students will finish the course with machine knowledge, sensory demonstrations and introduction into bean knowledge and basic coffee roasting.
This intensive training class will teach you to make delicious coffee every time. It is designed to give you the practical knowledge to prepare espresso coffees in a cafe environment.Â
In this course you will obtain knowledge of Latte Art along with how to make a range of coffee beverages and understand how to extract coffee to make the perfect cup.Â
