This is a specialist workshop for those wanting to learn to make their own fresh Mediterranean cheeses. You will prepare three cheese products and then prepare and eat a meal using the cheeses.
There will be cheese to take away, so please bring a couple of containers to carry it away. The cost includes a Mad Millie Italian Cheese kit (retailing at $39.90) with sufficient supplies to make 7kg of fresh cheese - you will be using this on the day, so you will have about 6.5 kg worth of leftover to experiment with.
Also included is light lunch made with the products you will make on the day - you can help cook this as well!
Sitting inside the iconic brick Auckland Gas Building across from Victoria Park, Main Course has set the standard for cooking events since 2003. Our wonderful space is light-filled and funky, blending the original exposed brickwork with state-of-the-art polished stainless steel benches and the very latest Bosch equipment.
We also understand that everyone is here to have fun, so while the techniques and lessons are based around many years of kitchen experience, we make sure that even the most amateur cook feels comfortable.
When you walk away, we guarantee you’ll have the skills to create a wicked dish or two at Main Course and will never be afraid of cooking for your Mother-in-law or catering your own party again!
You can find us at 20 Beaumont Street. There is parking directly outside the building and there is a carpark right next door in the Victory Convention Centre.
This class is truly one of my favourites. You take some simple yet incredibly delicious elements, and turn them into a petit gateaux that is incredibly beautiful. It’s a great first step into patisserie and the art of the mirror glaze.
This one day workshop is Cheese 101 for wannabee cheese experts. Learn the basics of the “rind” method of categorising cheese into one of 7 types and discover that, unlike wine, the character of a cheese can be judged by a glance at its rind or cover and an occasional squeeze.
