The programme provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to become qualified chefs and focusses on the hospitality industry required standards of food preparation and customer service.
The programme is 30% theory and 70% practical training. The practical component is conducted at our onsite Conynghams Coffee Shop and Tata Madiba Conferencing Venue as well as 2 months experience in PE’s leading hotels kitchens.
The Ray Mhlaba Skills Training Centre is an extension programme of the EP Children’s Homes. We are a nongovernment funded organisation who rely solely on the support and generosity of corporate and private donors to continue our successful operation.
The course will teach you nutrition and menu planning, food and beverage services, sanitation and safety, housekeeping, restaurant and bar activities, function planning, events, how to manage a kitchen, as well as guest relations and entrepreneurship and business skills
Skills learnt on this course include Life Skills, Cleaning Skills, Laundry Skills, and Cooking Skills. Learners can be placed as housekeepers in private homes, housekeeping assistants in hotels or guesthouses, or general cleaners (office cleaners).
This programme aims to emphasize professionalism, leadership and strong management discipline, and to lay a foundation for future career advancement in the hospitality industry.
Grade 12 with experience of working in a Hospitality Industry and must be employed in the hospitality, food and beverage or related fields.
This course is designed to prepare students for entry level employment in the hospitality industry through exploring the scope of the industry and its relationship to travel and tourism, examining hotel and lodging operations, including specialized segments of the industry?.?
