In Israel, food is where all aspects of life intersect, and meals are what bring every family together. Carmela's passion for food's transformative power to bring people together, to create joy and to harness happiness is casual, infectious and accessible.
The community where Carmela grew up in Jerusalem was a diverse one, inhabited by Moroccans, Egyptians, Kurds, Yemeni, Spaniards, Uzbeks and Eastern Europeans. From an early age, Carmela was exposed to the various cooking approaches endemic to these culinary traditions. Today, Carmela brings her expertise and enthusiasm to students from every walk of life and all ability levels.
Take a journey with Chef to the magical kingdom of Morocco, known for its exotic culture and cuisine. Moroccan cuisine is rich, both in terms of history and the richness of flavors, aromas, colors and breadth of exotic ingredients.
Each hands-on cooking class will feature recipes I’ve learned during my travels around the Morocco and the menus are designed to highlight seasonal ingredients and lots of cooking techniques.
Add some spice to your life with exotic Moroccan food. We'll be demonstrating exotic yet simple dishes you can make at home that might include olives with harissa, chicken tagine with preserved lemons and olives, fresh carrot salad, couscous, and a typical sweet.
Join Hipcooks owner Monika Reti (daughter of MIT Alum Aldo Reti) and Let’s go to Morocco for a virtual dinner party! In this lively livestream class, we’ll make a beautiful Moroccan Tagine for dinner and Poached Apricots in Syrup for dessert.
We’ll start with a roasted eggplant and tomato salad and then put together a savory and sweet chicken tagine filled with spices directly from their markets. Top it off with a fruit, nut and honey salad and some mint tea. It’s an evening you’re sure to remember.
