This beginners sushi class features a mix of both unusual and more familiar ingredients with lots of tips and tricks from an experienced sushi chef.
We will cover two different types of rolled sushi, hand-forming nigiri-zushi and making temaki as well as presentation, etiquette, and chopstick use, but you’re welcome to use your fingers!
South Coast Cookery is housed in the building adjoining The Southsea Deli. The space was built in the early 20th century as a bank and was refurbished in 2021 as a multi-purpose cookery school and events space featuring a demonstration kitchen, solid wood flooring, air conditioning, and flexible seating areas.

At the Edinburgh New Town Cookery School you will be shown the simple techniques of preparing fish and vegetables for sushi and will have a go at making it yourself. In the afternoon, after lunch, you will have a go at other Japanese recipes, which you can take home with you.
