We started Schola as a place where people could come together, put on an apron and learn about where food comes from and how to cook it. All of our classes are designed to intrigue the beginner as well as the seasoned veteran in the kitchen. The classes are a hands-on experience and usually last between two and three hours.
Schola is BYOB and we encourage our students to bring a bottle of something to enjoy while they cook and eat together. We’ll always have plenty of stemware on hand!
We’ll tackle one of the most rewarding and enjoyable tasks in the kitchen…baking bread. Nothing beats that smell! Join us as we talk about leavening agents and different types of flour, bread baking ovens and different techniques of the trade.
Who doesn’t love enjoying Chinese food while you’re curled up on the couch watching your favorite TV shows? Learn how to make some of the all-time favorites at home:
We’ll learn to make both a thin crust and deep-dish pizza crust, craft sauces, and prepare toppings for this ubiquitous food as well as its culinary cousin, calzone. We’ll then spend the rest of the class making our own pizzas and calzones and eating them!
We’ll butcher a bone-in pork rack from which we’ll discuss the smoking process, make spicy sausage and demonstrate how cure some bacon. There will also be some pork ribs to roast and sides to eat. Â
Tasty Vegan Cooking class is offered by Schola for all ages and all skill levels. A vegan cooking class sure to please vegans and non-vegans.
