The classes are very hands-on, light hearted and fun and you leave with the basic understanding of how to preserve safely in your own home and more importantly you get to take home the recipe and a jar of what gets made in the class.
The Classes Are Very Hands-on,
About Us
Manning Canning Kitchens makes a line of natural, gourmet preserves and healthy beverages for consumers who want “better for you” products.
Using only simple, whole ingredients (sourced locally in season) and traditional processes, without preservatives or additives, we aim to create products that you can feel good about consuming and “taste as they should”.
From humble beginnings using rented kitchens and selling at farmers’ markets, we have grown into a 2200 sq ft facility where we produce 11 skus that we sell directly to major grocery retail, specialty retail and natural stores across Ontario.
Our facility also serves as a rentable commercial kitchen for early-stage food entrepreneurs.
We provide the space, storage, equipment, and consulting services for entrepreneurs to cook, create, and collaborate.
Come join us for a discussion on canning and jam, required materials, and ingredients needed, as well as a walk through the process of making jam.
Join our special guest presenter Johwanna Alleyne of MoJo JoJo Pickles and follow along with her for this intermediate class on how to make jams and jellies, working with pectin
In this hands-on class, you will look at the role sugar plays in making an early summer berry jam; you’ll make a full-sugar as well as a low-sugar jam so you can examine the difference in taste, texture and consistency.
We will show you how to preserve the goodness of summer’s produce through various techniques. Techniques and Recipes Demonstrated: Blueberry and Lemon Jam- A classic combination of flavour
In this workshop we will discuss the science of safe canning, and how to make the best seasonal preserves (using less sugar and little or no pectin). Camilla will expertly demonstrate how to prepare one seasonal jam recipe and one marmalade recipe
