The Vegan Southern Indian Masterclass is an exploration of heritage Southern Indian cuisine that has rarely been seen outside of family homes.
This class is suitable for skilled chefs looking to add vegan alternatives to their knowledge base as well as novice and experienced home cooks interested in plant-based cooking.
The class journey:
This class will be a mixture of practical cooking, demos and time to ask questions. We are now returning to 'family style' cooking with everyone cooking and sharing workstations. This creates more of a communal and interactive experience, working together as a team. All ingredients and equipment needed for the class are provided.
Made In Hackney opened its doors in 2012 as the UK’s first fully vegan community cookery school and charity.
We collaborate with communities to showcase and develop skills, knowledge and inspiration to grow, cook and eat more plants.
The kitchen started as a response to global and local crisis – health inequalities, food access and climate change. These interconnected issues drive our mission to bring about positive change in the areas of community, health and environment with delicious, culturally varied, nutritious plant-based food at the centre of all we do.
The heartbeat of our organisation is our cookery and food growing classes. These sessions are opportunities to come together, share skills and cultural cuisines, learn new ones, deepen community connection and inspire joyful and lasting behaviour change. The results of these gatherings are beautiful.
Made In Hackney believes in a world where everyone has access to enough nutritious food of their preference; where plant-centred eating is the norm not the exception; and equitable food systems support healthy eco-systems that allow people, planet and animals to thrive.
Over the course of the day, you'll explore spices and their roles in more depth, as well as looking into the combinations and cooking techniques that go into making every curry truly unique
