The perfect class to get inspired and ready for the party season! A class for those who enjoy cooking at home but want to be better at hosting dinners with friends.
In this class, we'll be hands-on making a wide variety of vegetarian mezzes, demoing a few elements and sharing some plating ideas to wow your guests should you recreate these at home, perhaps for a festive dinner party around the holidays.
Food can absolutely look beautiful by following a few simple tips and adding some thoughtful touches (edible flowers, nice plates, complementary textures and colours, etc)
Price includes 2.5-hour class, all ingredients, recipes, some bonus homemade Middle Eastern snacks upon arrival, a glass of homemade hibiscus kombucha or tea on arrival and a shared feast after we're done cooking. Wine and beer available for purchase.
The full menu will be announced soon, but here are some of the recipes we're considering (inspired from our massive cookbook collection, Ottolenghi, and other favourites):
We’ve collaborated with Hippopatamus restaurant at the Museum (now QT) Hotel on a “Dine with Monet” Wellington-on-a-plate event where the chefs recreated recipes from Claude Monet’s life in Giverny; in 2018, Sofitel joined Savour to bring to life the era of the Parisian Belle Epoque with an evening of fine dining, cabaret music and culinary history.
More recently, the fabulous culinary gastronomad and Kiwi icon, Peta Mathias, joined us for a series of cooking workshops at Te Papa Museum to celebrate love and food stories from her book "Eat Your Heart Out" and will return in October 2021 to launch her new book, 'Shed Couture', with an afternoon of food, fashion and fun!
Although Egyptian food falls under both Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Cooking, it is worth noting that the same dish will taste different in each country of the region and even ingredients will vary.
The food of the Mediterranean uses a wide range of vegetables, olive oil, fish, meat and grains. The flavours are fresh and the presentation is colourful.
Learn how to cook 6 different dishes from 3 places around the world in this yummy 'tastes from around the world' cooking course.
In this Spring edition of Mezze Class we will be making and eating together Dolmades, Falafel, Spanakopita, Flatbreads, Tabouleh, Char Grilled Zucchini and Dukkah dressed Hummus and to finish the most delicious Rose scented Baklava
This course takes its influences from the sunshine countries that have coastlines on the Mediterranean sea, some more well known than others.
