Industrial hygiene is the science of anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace conditions that may cause workers’ injury or illness.

PPE is equipment that will protect the user against health or safety risks at work. It can include items such as safety helmets, gloves, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety footwear and safety harnesses. It also includes respiratory protective equipment (RPE).

Each load that requires rigging has unique properties that can range from the simple to the complex. So a rigger need to have extensive experience in rigging structural components and other equipment to support specific construction activities.

RPE (respirators and breathing apparatus) are used in many workplaces to protect workers when working with hazardous substances, such as gases, solvents, powdered chemicals and sprays. RPE comes with various forms of facepiece, such as helmets, visors, hoods or masks.

Scaffolding is a temporary structure on the outside/inside of a building, made usually of planks and metal poles, used by workers while building, repairing, or cleaning the building.

Work at height means work in any place where, if there were no precautions in place, a person could fall a distance liable to cause personal injury.

As part of managing the health and safety of a business, the risks in the workplace need to be controlled. To do this it requires a thorough analysis of factors, which might cause harm to people and decide whether reasonable steps to prevent that harm are taken or not.
