For beginners wanting to make a small, simple shaped, sculptural carving. Come with an idea in mind and the experienced tutor will show you the sculptural and carving techniques that will make your idea. For new carvers, this course will provide support to help you develop an idea.
In this workshop, we will explore the challenges of depicting birds in flight and suitable techniques that can be employed by the artist to portray the complexities of their structure in a realistic manner.
Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic processes, using the iron produced by iron compounds. Cyanotypes have a strong blue colour. In 1843 Anna Atkins published the first book of photographs, using the recently discovered cyanotype, or blueprint, process.

This workshop will teach you a range of hand embroidery techniques, giving you an excellent introduction and enabling you to move onto completing a variety of embroidery designs. During this session you will learn the 14 basic stitches required to complete most hand embroidery designs.
This one-day workshop is open to beginners who have never knitted before, as well as anyone who just needs a refresher in knitting skills. Starting with basic knit and purl stitches we will build these together to produce ribbing, stocking stitch and perhaps further skills, depending on skill.
