We are committed to delivering awareness training services that not only imparts the necessary knowledge but equip Learners with the practical experience in which they will be able to apply the knowledge gained into their respective work environments.
Learners accredited with this unit standard, namely handling hazardous chemical substances (Hazmat) will, on completion of the training course, be able to monitor, advise and report on the scope and understanding of the specified requirements regarding hazardous substances in the workplace.
Learners will be able to inspect, maintain and safely and efficiently use a self-contained breathing apparatus in an IDLH. Learners will be taken through the workings and correct use of the SCBA.
Learners found competent in this course will be familiar with the procedures and techniques to be called upon in the event of a spill of a wide variety of hazardous substances. In addition, the student will be familiarised with the relevant documentation requirements.
This training course instructs learners on the identification of hazards and minimum entry requirements of working in confined spaces, the correct use of PPE and atmospheric monitoring equipment, training requirements, planning and implementing of emergency evacuations.
Each organisation is required by law, under section 17 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, to have one or more health and safety representatives. The representative is elected by colleagues to represent them, in consultation with the employer.
This course provides knowledge of the safety procedures and equipment required to minimize the identified hazards associated with hot work. Learners will be taught the hazards to be aware of, locational requirements and permit program requirements for conducting hot work projects.
