Safe handling of hazardous chemicals and scheduled wastes will ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standards of Exposure of Chemicals Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2000, Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wastes) Regulations 2005.

Each Department which stores or handles hazardous chemicals or toxic chemicals must have in place emergency plans and procedures for dealing with the spillage of these chemicals.

In the event of a fire, an individual may panic or over-react. As such, early actions should be taken to address the emergency. These actions shall be undertaken by a trained Emergency Response Team (ERT).
