Upon successful completion, the apprentice will be able to determine the rigging equipment and procedures required to perform lifts in accordance with government safety regulations, accepted industry standards, and the requirements of assigned trade-related projects. 

Students gain theoretical and practical training to complement on-the-job learning. The training consists of a basic course of eight weeks and an intermediate and advanced course of ten weeks.

The next two levels are Level Two and Level Three of the Heavy Duty Equipment Technician trade.
