The qualification is for first-aiders in the workplace and community who have access to a defibrillator. This will give them the understanding that cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival.

This will be in places that recognise that someone needs to be trained to this level after carrying out a first-aid requirements assessment or for individuals who are interested in becoming a competent, basic first aid provider if ever the time comes.

This qualification is a nationally recognised and regulated qualification intended for the workplace for organisations to meet their obligations under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 to provide an immediate response to injured employees.

This qualification is aimed at people who want to be able to provide basic first aid in situations that can arise when looking after children/infants.
