On this course you will learn knife skills and how to read and understand recipes and the culinary terms used. You will take your food home with you at the end of the evening. You will learn pastry, baking, bread, meat cookery, fish cookery, soups etc.

Does your child love baking? We are holding a Children’s Christmas Baking Morning at The Edinburgh New Town Cookery School. We will teach the children how to make delicious festive cakes, biscuits and breads which they can pack up and take home.

We will expect a higher level of confidence in the kitchen and the dishes cooked will be ideal for dinner parties.  You will take your food home with at the end of the evening. Students will learn recipes and techniques such as risotto, pasta, sauces, fish and shellfish preparation etc.

In a series of evening classes, we will be concentrating on cooking techniques. This one is how to cook The Perfect Steak. We will look at different cuts of beef steak (Ribeye, Rump, Sirloin, Fillet, Bavette) and learn what to look out for when choosing a steak. We will demonstrate how best to cook

This eleven week course is designed for people with a solid knowledge and ability in basic cookery. It’s ideal for those wishing to take their cookery skills to the next level or for competent cooks who wish to have a formal training.

Join us for a day cooking through various regions of Mexico.  Savour fish ceviche and prawn tostastas from Baja California as well as carnitas from the state of Michoacán.  Learn about various types of dried chilies, salsas, masa & spices

This one day course at Edinburgh New Town Cookery School is a must for chocolate lovers. We will show you how to make different chocolate puddings, desserts and treats whilst also learning about meringues and pastry.

On this one day workshop learn how to cook delicious fish and shellfish recipes. We will explain what to look for when choosing fish and how to prepare it but the main emphasis will be on how to cook fish in order to get the best from it and how to avoid overcooking it.
