Learn to Earn offers a total of 10 courses.
The course is designed so that both baking and business skills learnt in theory are put into practice in real life situations.
The main aim of this introductory course is to provide a stepping stone to other training opportunities, most students go on to complete our Basic Office Skills Course (Khayelitsha) or Basic Cashiers Skills Course (Hermanus)
The purpose of the Business Essentials Course is to help new small business owners develop business skills which will enable them to start-up and successfully run their new business. The course teaches participants knowledge, skills and attitudes to successfully start up and run a business.
This course prepares graduates to work at Point of Sale e.g. as cashiers or sales assistants. Focus is placed on customer skills as well as computer skills specific to the industry.
The 12-week course prepares students for employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industries. The training received prepares students for positions as waiters and kitchen assistants.
Students are taught basic office administration skills to be able to run a reception area. Skills taught include more advanced computer skills, handling of mail, faxes etc, telephone etiquette, customer service, caring for office equipment and filing of documents into an existing system.
This course was born out of a previous LtE training programme in desktop publishing, a need within the community for a bridging course between a poor high school education and entrance into formal tertiary education in the field of graphic design and a need within the graphic design industry itself...
It prepares students to either go on a learnership, or to be skilled enough to seek entry level employment in the woodwork and cabinetry industry. The theory and practical projects prepare students to become employees as well as equip them to become self-employed.
Our long-term objective is that students will go on to start entrepreneurial enterprises possibly creating employment for others or find workplace opportunities.
Skills learnt on this course include Life Skills, Cleaning Skills, Laundry Skills, and Cooking Skills. Learners can be placed as housekeepers in private homes, housekeeping assistants in hotels or guesthouses, or general cleaners (office cleaners).
