Principles of Manual Handling is aimed at those who carry out manual handling activities at work and introduces delegates to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and controls available and what to expect from a manual handling assessment.

The aim of Work at Height is to introduce health and safety law relevant to working at height and to review regulation, code of practice and guidance notes relevant to working at height.

In 2003/04 falls from height accounted for 67 fatal accidents at work and nearly 4000 major injuries. They remain the biggest cause of workplace deaths and one of the main causes of major injury.

Tower scaffolds are becoming a frequently used piece of equipment, often used incorrectly and in some cases the unsafely, increasing the risk of falls.

From a health and safety perspective the primary purpose of an accident investigation is to identify the causes of an accident in order to suggest remedial action which will prevent recurrence.

The course is designed to provide delegates with a good understanding of general Health and Safety legal requirements and their application to themselves and the other parties involved in the construction industry.
