COURSES OFFERED BY GEORGIA PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER

The Basic Firefighter Training Course (BFTC) is a 10 week (428 hour) course beginning on a Friday with Day 0 for orientation and overview. The course meets or exceeds the standards in NFPA 1001 (current), as well as NFPA 1072 (current).

This is an in-service training course designed to introduce fire personnel in identifying different building construction and the impact fire has on it.

In response to concerns expressed by both the public and agencies alike, this course has been developed to enhance the driving abilities of Georgia's Law Enforcement Officers.

This 32-hour course is designed to provide public safety personnel with the tools necessary to present fire and life safety education to the public and to ultimately reduce the loss of life and property from fire. 

This course is designed so that the instructor that graduates will be capable and knowledgeable of how to conduct a firearms training course, conduct yearly firearms qualifications, and enforce the safety procedures for each.

This course will provide the Hazardous Materials Responder with the basic information to respond safely and efficiently to hazardous materials/weapons of mass destruction incidents.

This two-day course will provide fire, Emergency Medical Services department personnel and other related emergency responders with the aptitudes and abilities necessary to manage the duties and responsibilities of the Health and Safety Program Manager (HSPM) within their respective organizations.

This 16-hour course examines the Safety Officer's role at emergency responses. A specific focus on operations within an Incident Command System (ICS) as a Safety Officer is a main theme. Response to all-hazards types of situations will be emphasized.

This course is designed to present an awareness level approach to training for small and volunteer fire departments in Georgia for basic and low angle rope rescue. 

This 24 hour course is designed to prepare company officers, and newly appointed fire prevention and code enforcement personnel, with the ability to conduct a proper fire inspection at the company level, and prepare students who desire to obtain Fire Inspector I certification.
