Autodesk Maya is an animation and effects software program used in the broadcast, film and game development industries. This course begins with a practical overview of Maya, from learning the interface to building a foundation of basic techniques in modeling and animation.

The lens and screen arts affect every discipline within our ever-changing digital universe. The camera has always been a multidisciplinary tool that encompasses the sciences, humanities, commerce and the arts.

From your first day at SVA, you’ll work at your own desk with unlimited access to state-of-the-art computers in a design-firm atmosphere. You’ll learn to integrate current technology with the traditions of drawing and drafting.

Animation is magical it can speak across cultural, age, gender and language barriers. Because animation uses our own imagination, its images and narratives have a unique power to move people to laughter and tears sometimes at the same time.

This course is an introduction to ceramics as an art form and mode of communication. Various construction and sculptural techniques will be explored with special attention to the diverse possibilities of clay.

In this intense class we explore the structural aspect of the body and ways to depict the rhythms and forms inherent to our bodies. We develop a language of line that connects us to the earliest known and most sophisticated drawings made by humans.

Hosted by SVA's MFA Fine Arts Department, this internationally renowned program offers artists an opportunity to work intensively in a private studio and receive individual critiques from faculty selected for their diversity, professional achievement and critical engagement.

Designed for all levels of jewelry enthusiasts, students in this course will work at their own pace to create original jewelry pieces.

This course will help students to develop creative, technical and problem-solving skills in woodworking and metalworking techniques in a sculptural context.
