COURSES OFFERED BY STEPS PDX

This class is an experience that allows students to be exposed to House culture through the history, music and dance. Here we will navigate through the depths of house dance through its foundations.

All levels welcome. This class begins at the barre, setting you up for success as it transitions into center work and across the floor. Open class focuses on the fundamentals of technique and building strength through body alignment, as well as musicality.

Class builds on learning steps, understanding and enjoying the freedom of street specific styles. The style encompasses the movements of break-dancing and body-popping with a concentration on footwork.

Contemporary Floor Work begins and ends on the floor. This class starts with a warm-up on the ground consisting of basic techniques like head-tail connection and spinal initiation. Class will develop into a series of rolling floor combinations to warm up the spine and hip flexors.

Class begins with a structured, progressive warm-up that emphasizes technique and flexibility. Following warm-up, class moves into choreography that is dynamic and energized - be prepared to get moving, and to let that tension go!

Hip Hop Dance Classes are offered by Steps PDX for all ages and skill level. Driven by our mission, to educate, inspire and enrich lives through dance, we engage with our community by; partnering with local schools, encouraging creativity in a safe environment, and providing opportunities.
