Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts offers a total of 15 courses.
Each class will start with a core-focused cardio warm-up, moving to a combination of arm exercises, and then followed by a series of movements to work the legs and seat. Stretches are incorporated throughout with a focused cool down at the end of each class.
Contemporary dance fuses jazz, ballet and modern techniques with elements of improvisation and creative movement. Dancers will explore how to express themselves freely and learn new choreography.
Ballet is the greatest foundation of any dance form. It teaches elements of balance and suspension, discipline and grace, movement dynamics and clarity of lines. It is an integral art form developed to enhance musicality, precision, spatial awareness and overall control of the mind, body and soul.
This class is geared towards older teens/adults students who are beginners. Students will progress through all the fundamentals of ballet once a week and progress in areas of strength, flexibility, allegro, pirouettes, adage, etc.
Looking for a high energy and explosive workout? Join Adult Hip Hop! In this class, there is a focus on hip hop technique blended with urban groove and contemporary movement. Enjoy a very positive and high energy environment to learn, move and expand your movement vocabulary.
This is a class built and designed for the student who wants to pursue dance as their career. Taking the technique from Ballet and Modern classes and learning about Modern choreography from around the world.
Students will learn body isolations, progressions across the floor, and develop their rhythmic accuracy and style. Dancers will also apply technical skills and jazz dance elements in choreographed combinations.
While learning about professionalism and preparing students for university level material, the class is built around sophisticated modern work. Classes are based on the Limon and Graham traditions of modern dance as well as creative movement vocabulary.
Lyrical I is an introductory class that combines the foundation of Classical Ballet as well as Contemporary, Jazz and Modern movements to invoke an emotion in both the dancer and the audience. It encourages students to "break out of their shell" and explore their feelings in a movement-based way!
Students will learn basic tap techniques as well as explore improvisation, musicality, and elements of percussion. Basic music theory and concepts will be introduced.
